Responsible for all patient care delivery (inpatient and outpatient, all locations) and the University HealthCare Alliance physician network. Delegated full SHC budget responsibility in partnership with CFO.
Team achieved top decile performance on UHC 24-metric composite quality score.
Chaired IT Executive Committee. Team completed full Epic EHR and administrative system implementation. Awarded HIMSS Stage 7 designation for EHR adoption (top 1 percent).
Increased HCAHPS inpatient satisfaction scores from 67 to 78th percentile. Increased outpatient satisfaction scores from 14th to 50th percentile.
Created and led new budget process, initiated spending cuts, created reserve funds for strategic priorities, and allocated operating and capital contingency. Supported recruitment of 177 physicians.
Achieved record FY2009 operating EBIDA of $207 M and record FY2010 operating EBIDA $236 M. Improved bond rating to AA.
Tightened nurse staffing ratios. Favorably renegotiated contracts with Sodexo and Owens and Minor.
Successfully renegotiated SEIU contract. Oversaw prolonged negotiations with nursing union.
